The trap: the plain iPhone 15 does not qualify
Only the Pro models of the 15 generation received the A17 Pro chip. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus stayed on the A16 and do not support Apple Intelligence, despite sharing the USB-C connector and the release year. It is the most common buying mistake on that generation. Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest refurbished iPhone with Apple Intelligence?
As of 5 October 2026, it was the iPhone 16e, at £385 on Back Market UK.
That is an entry price: it matches the cheapest configuration available for that model on the day, and it changes at every reading.
Does the iPhone 15 support Apple Intelligence?
No. Only the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max do, because they carry the A17 Pro chip. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus use an A16 and are not supported.
It is the most common confusion of that generation: same year, same USB-C connector, two different chips.
Which tracked models do not support it?
Among the models we track: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
They remain perfectly usable and keep receiving iOS updates; it is the Apple Intelligence layer, and only that, which they lack.
