Back Market price alert: what threshold should you choose?

A good price alert is not always the lowest possible number. It is the price that has a realistic chance of happening and would make you comfortable buying.

The lowest recorded price is the aggressive threshold

The lowest recorded price proves the model has already reached that level. It is a good target if you can wait and if the low is not too old.

The recent average minus a margin is the realistic threshold

If you want to buy soon, set the alert slightly below the recent average instead of chasing an all-time low. You will catch a meaningful improvement without waiting for a rare clearance.

Your true budget is the clearest threshold

Sometimes the best rule is simply the amount above which you do not want to buy. If the model drops below that number, the alert becomes immediately actionable.

Thresholds to avoid

  • A price never seen in the model's history.
  • A threshold equal to today's price, which creates noise without a real drop.
  • The same threshold for standard and Pro models.
  • A target set without checking storage, condition and taxes at checkout.
