Back Market cosmetic grades: what they really change in the price

Cosmetic grade is about appearance, not basic function

Back Market's US help pages describe grades as cosmetic condition. Fair, Good, Excellent and Premium describe visible wear; devices are still expected to be fully functional.

• Fair: visible signs of wear, usually the cheapest entry point.
• Good: lighter wear, often a sensible middle ground.
• Excellent: very limited visible wear, priced above Good or Fair.
• Premium: the top cosmetic tier, usually closest to a like-new purchase.

Which grade should you choose?

If you use a case and screen protector, Fair or Good can be rational. Excellent and Premium make more sense when the phone is a gift, when appearance matters, or when you plan to resell it soon.

Battery still deserves a separate check

Cosmetic condition does not tell the whole story. Before checkout, check the battery information shown by the seller and compare it with the price difference between offers.
