When to buy a refurbished iPhone: the best times of year
A refurbished iPhone price does not fall in a straight line. It moves with Apple launches, trade-in cycles, seller stock and US shopping events. Here is how to read those windows before you buy.

September starts the cycle, October and November show the price move
Apple usually announces new iPhones in September. The used and refurbished market reacts after a delay, as trade-ins arrive, get tested and return to stock. For a two- or three-year-old model, the clearer price move often appears in October or November rather than on launch week itself.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday matter, but the baseline matters more
Late November can bring the widest set of price drops at the same time. The useful question is not whether the page says deal. It is whether the current price is close to the lowest level already recorded for that model.
Back-to-school demand can tighten prices
August and early September can be uneven in the US because students and families are buying phones, laptops and tablets at the same time. A model that looked cheap in July may stop falling for a few weeks if the cheapest stock sells through.
When waiting usually does not pay
- Older models that already sit near their floor: the remaining move may be only a few dollars.
- Small or discontinued formats with limited stock: scarcity can push the entry price back up.
- A model already within 5% of its lowest recorded price: the possible gain may not justify the wait.
- A configuration you need urgently, such as a specific storage size or carrier option.
The simple method: let a price alert do the watching
Pick the price at which you would actually buy, then create an alert. That turns a moving market into one clear signal: if Back Market US reaches your threshold, you get an email.
